Raavan Hindi Movie
This June, Prakash Jha presented today's Raajneeti inspired by Mahabharata. Now, Maniratnam's new version of Raavan inspired by Ramayana is creating a great buzz around the world. These are not the new experiences in Bollywood. There are many Hindi movies with the adaptation of the other great epics. In the series - Dev D has gotten the biggest popularity.

Raavan is a new Hindi movie of Bollywood which releases today on 18th June, 2010 in India. Story of Raavan movie is loosely based on the great Indian epic Ramayana which tells the story of Rama. The epic introduces a great jungle war against demon-king of Lanka – Ravana who had abducted Sita – Rama’s wife.

Beera Munda (Abhishek Bachchan) is a strong and rugged beast of a man. He has played the character of anti-establishment in Raavan Hindi movie. He is fiercely protective of his people. He is a hope for the oppressed.

Ragini Sharma (Aishwariya Rai Bachchan) is vivacious woman, passionate about music and art. She has own approach towards the life. She resists and fights back with the challenging struggles.

Dev Pratap Sharma (Vikram) is an aggressive encounter specialist. Dev is a man on a mission in Raavan 2010 movie. His current mission is Beera. He doesn’t justify right or wrong. He only knows about his duty towards the state.

Sanjeevani (Govinda) is a gregarious and unkempt forest guard. He knows very deeply about the struggle of Beera. He is the middle man in Raavan movie just like Vibhishana in Ramayana.

Raavan 2010 film is directed by Mani Ratnam. A. R. Rahman has introduced the best music in the film. Gulzar has created the best lyric for Raavan Hindi film.

Official website of Raavan film - http://raavan-thefilm.com writes about the movie synopsis, “RAAVAN is not a story, it is a world.

Beera Munda – Undisputed, Unlawful, Untamed

Dev Pratap Sharma – The Punisher, The Law, The Righteous

Ragini – Conscience, Beauty, Music

Dev falls in love with Ragini, a spunky classical dancer who is as unconventional as him. They get married and he takes up his new post in Lal Maati, a small town in northern India. A town where the word of law is not the police but Beera, a tribal who has, over the years, shifted the power equation of the place from the ruling to the have-nots of the area. Dev knows that the key to brining order to any place is to vanquish the big fish; in this case – Beera. In one stroke Dev manages to rip open Beera’s world, and set in motion a chain of events which will claim lives, change fortunes. Beera, injured but enraged hits back starting a battle that draws Dev, Beera and Ragini into the jungle. The junge which dense, confusing, scary. And in this journey they must confront their own truth. A journey which will test their beliefs, convictions and emotions. Emotions which are as scary and confusing as the forest. The forest becomes the battleground. The battle between good and evil, between Dev and Beera, between Ram and Raavan. But when the lines dividing good and evil are blurring fast whose side will you take. When hate turns to love and the good starts looking evil, which side will you battle for? Love is a battle that nobody wins but everyone must fight.

Even this Raavan.”

Overall, the whole story of Raavan movie revolves around Dev, Ragini and Beera. The movie starts with the married couple of Dev and Ragini. Dev as an encounter specialist enters into Laal Maati, a small village of northern India where Beera, a tribal has established his own law among oppressed people.

Forest is the battleground of this Raavan also. The movie script is also not beyond the love. It is love which is not won by anyone but everyone must fight for this, even this Raavan also.

Raavan movie is the second best new version of an Indian epic which is introduced by Mani Ratnam after Thalapathi, which bore close resemblance to the Mahabharata.

We already have watched Jungle movie which was also based on the almost same concept. But there had nothing more about a tribal life. Now, the Raavan movie has introduced Abhishek Bachchan as a naxalite leader who is very intelligent.

Mani Ratnam has tried to introduce the film on the real ground of northern India’s life. The film is compared with Omkara 2006 also. But there are many differences in both movies.

Mani Ratnam has given the real ground of Raavan story but the character has been taken from Ramayana. The movie touches only one aspect of naxalite leader’s character – Beera’s intelligence and his struggle for oppressed.

Raavan movie is very confusing for our audiences. Mani Ratnam has not drowned a very clear line for Beera. Is he evil? Is he good? Justify yourself. There is a buzz also round us – Raavan or Robin Hood.

Raavan movie has tried to introduce both things together - mythology of Indian culture and the flair and fun of Bollywood. Cinematographers Manikandan and Santosh Sivan have shown their best effort.

Background scenes, dialogues, music and characters are very natural in this movie. Raavan movie releases in India in Hindi and Tamil versions. Catch it in your nearest theaters today on 18th June, 2010.
